The backyard of my house faces west, so I get to at least see the sunsets every night from the comfort of my kitchen or living room, even if I don’t get to always shoot them. A few weeks ago, the light started to change and I had a feeling there would be a nice one in store. I always feel bad leaving the kids with my wife while I go out shooting (I get over it pretty quick once Im on location), so I thought that I’d would try taking D with me to see how he does – Heck, my buddy Mike Olbinski takes his kids storm chasing, so a hour trip should be nothing right?
There is a little recreational park built for military folks in the area that backs right up to the Tarklin Bayou. I hadn’t scouted it really, but there’s water and a sunset, so there had to be some shots… I put D in the car and we headed out. There was a little bit of beach where we stopped and I was drawn to these 2 remaining pilons sticking out of the water. I was able to get a good evening shooting and D enjoyed pressing the shutter on my wireless remote. Then he found a stick to play with and he was pretty self-sufficient. Of course, he still ended up knee deep in the water, but he still had a blast. Now I just need to get the kid a camera so he can shoot with daddy! :D

That last shot is brilliantly cute. I mean, that deserves a spot front and center on one of your walls!

I love the last one. It looks like he’s off to explore the new world!

Beautiful images, Chris. Really like the bold minimalism of the first. Just found your site via Twitter. I’ll be back.
